European Parliament’s anti-Iran resolution legally baseless: Judiciary
TEHRAN - The Iranian Judiciary spokesperson says the anti-Iran resolution adopted by the European Parliament has no legal substance.
“When we see the European Parliament issues a resolution which has been copied from anti-revolutionaries and dissidents, we should say that such a document not only lacks any legal value in local and international circles, but also shows that some individuals’ human and historical conscience has been questioned,” said Morteza Jahangir.
He further lashed out at hegemonic powers and Zionist circles for supporting terrorists and rioters.
In their recent resolution, members of the European Parliament claimed that Iran treats its own people, including civil activists, protesters, women, minorities and local communities, violently. They called on the European Commission and the European Council to expand sanctions against Iran, seemingly unaware that sanctions hurt the very people they claim to want to support.
Europe has already adopted other measures against Iran.
During the recent riots in Iran, they supported mercenaries and terrorists to stir chaos and vandalize public property in Iran. The European trio of Britain, France, and Germany also triggered the snapback mechanism last October to officially return the UN sanctions lifted under the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Europe also supported attacks by Israel and the U.S. in their 12-day war against Iran in June 2025. Europe has, meanwhile, failed to adopt any stance against Israeli crimes against tens of thousands of civilians in the region.
